Obituary for George Edward Lowe

George Edward (Ed) Lowe, 87, of Pine Grove, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 30, 2019. He is survived by two daughters, Mary (Larry) Huggins of Pine Grove, and Shelba (Tim) Snider of Lost Creek, WV.
He was married to Mary Cathern Floyd on September 3, 1955. The couple were married for 61 years prior to Mary’s death in 2017.
Ed was born on July 26, 1931 in Pine Grove to Beverly Morgan Lowe and Bertha Berdine Lowe. Both parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by 5 sisters and a brother, Florence Lowe, Elva (Lowe) Carvoo, Elsie (Lowe) Lee, Opal (Lowe) Morgan, Kathleen (Lowe) Durbin and Oscar Lee Lowe.
Ed’s parents bought the home place when he was 7 years old. He was still residing there at the time of his death and had lived there for 80 years. He passed away in the same room that his father passed away in 56 years ago. That was his wish.
He was a Christian who loved everyone and had attended and been a member of the Church of God in past years.
He loved gardening, yard work, his family and his many friends.
He retired from Ormet Corp. with over 36 years of service. He was also a voluntary ambulance driver for the Shortline Emergency Squad for many years, working with the late Boyd Hayes as EMT. He served for 4 years in the Army and all of it in Korea during the Korean War.
Ed was a grandfather to 3, Mya (Vance) Price of Glenville, WV, Wendi Arnett of Pine Grove, WV and Will Hayhurst of Clarksburg, WV. He had 7 great grandchildren, Lexie Price, Emily Price, Wesley Smith, Landon Smith, Rayna Smith, Logan Ross and Kaylee Lindsey. A great great grandchild completed the family circle, Everly Kate Holcomb.
There will be no visition and burial will be at the convenience of the immediate family. In lieu of flowers in Ed’s remembrance, take a friend out to dinner and make sure you tip the waitress. Online condolences may be expressed at
